The majesty and variety found in nature intrigue me. From the water that rushes in a river or washes up on a beach, to the colors in sunrises and sunsets, to the host of plants and animals that are our neighbors, I am in awe of the beauty that surrounds us.
Leaves, with their multitude of sizes, shapes, and colors, are of particular interest. I often use them in my art: making their impressions in handmade paper, painting them, and drawing them.
Animals frequently seem to project emotions and characteristics that we normally only attribute to humans; this fascinates me and has lead me to begin an in depth exploration of these unexpected facets of the animal kingdom.
We all need to carefully examine what nature has provided us in order to make wise choices about what we want to preserve. In my artwork, I try to encourage people to look at nature with a fresh eye; to relish the gifts nature has given us before they are destroyed.
